The Holy Family Hostel in Pearisburg, VA (out behind Holy Family Catholic Church) a good couple miles from the #appalachiantrail but a very pleasant, open, and well-supplied hiker hostel nonetheless. Worth the trek off trail to get here. After Mass this morning they invited us all (half a dozen hikers) to their potluck breakfast. #hostels #Virginia #churches #at2015

Well, they only have the one Mass a week on Sunday mornings. There were maybe 50 or 60 in attendance this morning. A retired priest presiding, no altar servers, simple music. But welcoming to hikers. Aside from the hostel. At least 2 of is got rides back to the Trail from parishioners (and my ride stopped at Dairy Queen and waited for me while I went in to get a Blizzard for my ‘second breakfast ‘).
