Trail Pix from Kurt’s hike

The Holy Family Hostel in Pearisburg, VA (out behind Holy Family Catholic Church) a good couple miles from the #appalachiantrail but a very pleasant, open, and well-supplied hiker hostel nonetheless. Worth the trek off trail to get here. After Mass this morning they invited us all (half a dozen hikers) to their potluck breakfast. #hostels #Virginia #churches #at2015

Bridges on the Appalachian Trail: this suspension bridge goes over Kimberling Creek which runs alongside VA route 606. Pretty impressive construction job just to get us over the creek (which IS a sizeable creek). #bridges #appalachiantrail #Virginia #at2015

Insect of the day: no idea what this is; don’t believe I’ve ever seen one before. This one was on a maple sapling along the #appalachiantrail in SW Virginia between Route 611 and Route 608. Any ideas? It’s a little bigger than a common ladybug. #insects #identification #entomology #at2015

TWOFER! Sometimes the Appalachian Trail looks like this, AND Bridges of the Appalachian Trail: I crossed over Interstate 77 today in southwest Virginia on this bridge. The Trail runs along the shoulder of a road for a mile or two at this point before returning to the woods. #appalachiantrail #bridges #Virginia #at2015
